ChessieRacing Captures Line Honors and a First Overall

ChessieRacing, a Tripp 62 owned by George Collins, was first to finish among the Friday starters in the 38th biennial Annapolis-to-Newport Race. ChessieRacing crossed the finish line off Castle Hill Lighthouse at 5:23 p.m. local time on Sunday with an elapsed time of 2 days, 6 hours, 27 minutes and 37 seconds. She won first overall by just over five hours.

Michael Schmidt Yachtbau, now Y Yachts, is the brand of luxury carbon cruisers he created, a German firm that aims to use the best technology available to simplify the sailing. Schmidt also believes a yacht needs aesthetics that will distinguish it from the pack...Bill Tripp was tasked with targeting lightweight performance to ensure the boat would offer enjoyable sailing in single figure windspeeds. A key attribute of the Y7 is that it shouldn’t need to motor in light airs.That said, it can motor very efficiently thanks to the inclusion of two engines; Schmidt values low fuel consumption, good manoeuvrability and systems redundancy.

Sirona overall winner of Newport's 2019 Candy Store Cup

Sirona, a 65' world cruiser designed by Tripp Design and launched in 1999, took Class A top honors and was crowned the overall winner of the Candy Store superyacht regatta in Newport, RI. Congratulations for a stellar weekend of racing.

G2 is Winner of Boat International 2019 Refit Award

Of the yachts in the highly competitive Refit category, the 38.2-metre sloop G2 was selected by the Judges as the winner. G2 was originally built by Vitters Shipyard from advanced composites to a design by Bill Tripp and launched in 2009 as Cinderella IV. Tripp Design undertook the exterior, deck, and superstructure redesign, with Nauta Design reimagining her interior. The Judges considered that the extent, quality and outcome of the 11-month refit executed by Pendennis was exemplary — and well worthy of a Neptune.

Pendennis Refits Lady K

Tripp designed three composite lift-keel boats [in the late 1990's 27m/88ft Shaman; 22m/72ft Sirona and 23m/77ft Lady K] that, although arguably not all superyacht size by today's standards, were certainly the forerunners and inspiration for some of today's performance super-cruisers.

High Noon - 1st to Finish, Elapsed Time, in St. David's Lighthouse Division

The Tripp 41' High Noon chose to race in the 2016 Newport Bermuda race despite a daunting weather forecast, finishing second after the 100' Comanche. High Noon took a 1st for Class 10 in the St. David's Lighthouse Division, with a 3rd overall. High Noon was skippered by Peter Becker with a crew that included seven young sailors aged between 15 and 18. Truly BIG winners!

45 m SAUDADE Takes Top Honors

The owner of the 45m SAUDADE won the top award, the Silver Jubilee Cup at this year's Loro Piana Superyacht Cup. This win was particularly special as they were the defending champions, and the owner's dream was to win the Cup two years in a row. Congratulations!
